Body Mass Index
Body Mass Index: MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE: 29
The body mass index (BMI) is a calculation that generally estimates
a person’s body fat using a formula that considers your weight and
height. The actual
formula is: BMI = Kg / (m)2 where your Body
Mass Index equals your weight, measured in kilograms, divided by
your height squared, in meters (m). Your BMI tells whether you are
underweight, average weight, at risk of becoming overweight, or
overweight.
People who are overweight increase their
risk of developing health problems such as diabetes
and high blood pressure. The BMI must be
administered
by Simplicity Health Plans or an
approved physician familiar with BMI.
